KGSPA Chooses Leadership, Officers for 2021

COLWICH, KS – The Kansas Grain Sorghum Producers Association (KGSPA) has elected Andy Hineman as its newest board director during KGSPA’s Annual Meeting on Friday, January 29th, 2021. KGSPA’s membership selected Hineman, as well as incumbents Daniel Riffel and Kent Winter, to serve three-year terms as a directors for the three seats eligible for election this year.

“These are exciting times for sorghum producers,” said Hineman. “I am thankful for the opportunity to further the industry.”

“We continue to lead sorghum across the generations and into the future through excellent grassroots farmer-leadership and involvement,” added Jesse McCurry, KGSPA Executive Director. “With Andy’s addition to our board alongside returning directors Daniel Riffel and Kent Winter, we are confident sorghum holds sustainable momentum in Kansas for the years ahead.”

Hineman, Scott City, operates his family farm, established in 1886, that now consists of 15,000 acres of dryland cropland—including grain sorghum—as well as an additional 1,000 acres of grass for livestock grazing. He is a leader in his community serving on local boards, including the Scott City Council, Scott Community Foundation, the Lane County Community Foundation, of which he is a founding member, and many others. Hineman utilizes precision ag systems to manage his farm, he holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Kansas State University, and he has adapted playa conservation into his working lands strategies.

The KGSPA board of directors also selected officers for the year ahead during the association’s Annual Meeting:
