KGSPA President Winter Testifies Before Senate Ag. Committee

Kent Winter, a farmer from Andale, Kan., had the opportunity Feb. 23, 2017 to present ideas related to farm policy in Manhattan. He was part of a producer panel giving perspective to Senators Pat Roberts and Debbie Stabenow at a field hearing.

Speaking on behalf of Kansas sorghum producers, Kent expressed strong support for PLC, more relevant conservation programs to sorghum, trade programs like MAP and FMD, research for the sugarcane aphid and overall support for a strong commodity title and crop insurance program.

As a member of National Sorghum Producers legislative committee, Kent is ingrained in dialogue about the new farm bill. Kansas sorghum farmers will continue to express their views through their state and national organization.

Kent thanks the senators and their staff for an excellent hearing in Manhattan. K-State and Kansas Department of Agriculture put our state’s best forward. Kansans can be proud of their representation not only in Washington but among the leadership of the other commodity groups.
