Sorghum Update | February 24, 2025
The Kansas Grain Sorghum Commission is committed to advancing sorghum’s presence in global markets. Commission leaders attended the U.S. Grains Council’s 22nd International Marketing Conference in Austin, Texas, where industry leaders gathered to shape global trade strategies and explore new opportunities for sorghum, ethanol, and feed grains. USGC Chairwoman Verity Ulibarri set the stage with her theme, “Cultivate the Future,” highlighting both challenges and opportunities in today’s trade environment.
Throughout the event, experts analyzed global demand trends, while Advisory Team (A-Team) sessions provided deep dives into market-specific issues. Commission Chairman Brant Peterson played a key role in these discussions as part of the Western Hemisphere A-Team, working to advance trade opportunities for sorghum.
Beyond the conference, the Commission’s focus on global market expansion continues through the Sorghum State Podcast. This month, we sat down with Reece Cannady from the U.S. Grains Council to discuss the growing demand for sorghum in India and how international trade efforts are opening new doors for growers. As global interest in sorghum continues to rise, the Commission remains dedicated to strengthening our presence in key markets and creating new opportunities for farmers.
