Kansas Sorghum Producers Welcomes Trump Administration’s Progress Regaining Chinese Market Access

Manhattan, KS (Oct. 30, 2025) –– Kansas Sorghum Producers welcomed today’s announcement by President Donald Trump signaling renewed access for U.S. sorghum into China and expressed strong appreciation to the Trump administration and the Kansas Congressional delegation for keeping sorghum producers front of mind before and following President Trump’s meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

“Sorghum producers across Kansas welcome today’s developments and the strong momentum for renewed access to our largest international customers in China. These steps represent stability and timely demand for producers as they head into a record-setting sorghum harvest season across Kansas,” said Adam York, CEO of the Kansas Sorghum Producers.

Shane Ohlde, president of the Kansas Sorghum Producers board of directors, highlighted the importance of strong sorghum demand by China to the entire Kansas economy. “The might of Kansas sorghum farmers’ production capabilities and the wealth it brings to our communities benefits every Kansan every day. The scale of the Chinese market and its historically strong demand, developed by the valiant work of the United Sorghum Checkoff Program and the Kansas Grain Sorghum Commission, ensures our state’s sorghum producers unlock maximum profitability. This is a significant step forward for our Kansas farmers and communities across our great state, and we thank President Trump, U.S. Ag Secretary Rollins, and U.S. Trade Representative Greer and our Kansas Members of Congress for tireless work securing market access that bolsters the future of Kansas.”
