Kansas Sorghum is deeply saddened by the death of former District VII Sorghum Commissioner Nathan Larson of Riley, KS, who passed away May 27, 2026.
During his tenure on the Commission, Larson drove industry innovation through his work on the board’s Research Committee. He partnered with leaders from the Collaborative Sorghum Investment Program, the United Sorghum Checkoff Program, and Kansas State University to establish vital research priorities. As a sorghum grower, Larson championed the practical needs of his peers, shaping initiatives that continue to advance the industry today.
Larson also expanded sorghum’s global footprint during his five years representing the Commission on the U.S. Grains and BioProducts Council. He attended inbound trade missions and forged strong relationships with international buyers, successfully boosting global demand for sorghum.
While Larson’s term on the board ended in 2025, Kansas Sorghum remains grateful to Larson and his family for his years of service. His active leadership and dedication to his fellow growers left a lasting mark on the Kansas sorghum industry.
Kansas Sorghum extends its deepest condolences to the Larson family and friends during this difficult time.
