FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MANHATTAN, Kan.– Kansas Sorghum Producers is pleased to announce the selection of Andrew Le as the organization’s 2025 Collegiate Fellow. Le, a second-year student at Kansas State University, is pursuing a political science degree with a public service track, along with a secondary major in global food systems leadership and a minor in leadership studies. During his time at Kansas Sorghum, Le will contribute to advancing the organization’s outreach and advocacy efforts while gaining firsthand experience in public policy and agricultural research and promotion.

“We are excited to welcome Andrew to the Kansas Sorghum team,” said Maddy Meier, Kansas Sorghum Producers’ director of communications and outreach. “His enthusiasm for sorghum and agriculture, despite not coming from a rural background, will be invaluable as he works with staff to serve sorghum producers across Kansas.”

The Kansas Sorghum Producers’ Collegiate Fellowship program, in partnership with the Flinchbaugh Food and Ag Policy Program at Kansas State University and National Sorghum Producers and now in its sixth year, offers students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in agricultural policy in Kansas and in Washington, D.C.

“Andrew’s demonstrated passion for public service and agriculture will make him a great addition to the Kansas Sorghum team,” says National Sorghum Producers CEO Tim Lust. “We look forward to working with him and are thrilled to continue our partnership with Kansas Sorghum in fostering the next generation of advocates and leaders.”

Andrew is committed to developing a career in agriculture and gaining practical experience in agricultural advocacy. Aside from his role at Kansas Sorghum, Andrew is actively involved on campus as a leader in groups such as Food Security Scholars, the Student Governing Association, and the Kansas State University Marching Band. Andrew has also interned in the Kansas Legislature, the City of Wichita’s City Manager’s Office, and the Wichita City Council.

“I am eager to learn about the interconnectedness of agriculture and its alignment with my lifelong passion for enhancing food security in Kansas,” said Le. “This internship offers an invaluable opportunity to apply my background in public policy and the legislative process, allowing me to advocate for and advance sorghum. I am deeply grateful for the Flinchbaugh Food and Ag Policy Program for allowing me the opportunity to learn first-hand from industry professionals, and to walk in the footsteps of other passionate student leaders committed to shaping the future of our state’s agricultural community.”
