The Kansas Grain Sorghum Commission met on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 to discuss and approve its Fiscal Year 2022 budget in the amount of $1,010,589. Chairman Kevin Kniebel, a farmer near White City, noted in the Commission’s press release that this year’s budget “reflects not only the momentum of the crop, but also a continued focus on research results and making a difference for farmers.” USDA recently detailed the momentum earlier this month as the department released its September World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates (WASDE) boosting sorghum acreage estimates to 7.3 million acres, the highest acreage since 2015, according to the Sorghum Checkoff.
